A Hero Secrets Legacy: Sowing One’s Dream of Growth
Each
of us has been living a perfectly imperfect life. I may have lived this way,
but I am not just anybody. I used to ask people about their dreams, the answer
I always get from them is this, “I dream of becoming a rich person.“

I
suddenly thought of some things, such as “How will I become rich?” Or “What
else do I have to do so my kids will become proud of me?”—something that I
would want to pass on to my children and even to the upcoming generations.
Every time I wake up in the morning and see the sun rises, I look forward to
planting each seed and hope that I can accommodate enough land. Every day, I
always hope to see progress in my property though I must admit that I am still
lucky enough to have owned about a hectare while others have none. Some are
just caretakers or tenants of landlords who give them nothing, not even a
percentage of the land they had been planting (tilling) for so many years.
Climate
transform affects the planting seasons and yields of the farmers. Some extreme
problems arise, such as a prolonged period of flood and droughts. These changes
in seasons cause the plants to adapt hard. I can’t get over the thought of why
scarcity of weeds affects the yield in crops. It also reduces crop yields
because of pests. Soil erosion is another hindrance because the land for
agriculture may be significantly affected. The land area for cultivation might
dramatically reduce because of soil erosion. ` Farmers like me are under
enormous pressure because of irrigation problems and some agricultural needs
such as seedlings, fertilizers, and pesticides. I believe that climate change
can reverse. So, as a farmer, I will do my part to lessen the greenhouse gas
emissions contributed by the agricultural sector.
Another
thing is I would like to Invest in agricultural technologies. But how can I do
that if I do not have the latest machines that can help me do my work a lot
faster and easier? I have limited knowledge of using these new technologies.
There is the degradation of land, which has become the cause of why farmers get
low yield. Another problem is the pandemic situation we are facing right now.
Because of the pandemic, we cannot work and sell our harvest, which makes our
job much worse. This virus is affecting my plants and me. I see some people who
have nothing to eat yet. I am lucky that I own a hectare of land, which I
planted before this pandemic had even hit us.
Now,
I can share my harvest with all my neighbors so that no one will go hungry. I
am so glad that I can impart my blessings. Just before the sun sets, my son
asked me, “Father, can I call you my hero? I suddenly replied, why call me such
when I am just a farmer? Then my son answered back, No, father. You are not
just anybody. You are more than a farmer because of the sacrifices you are making.
Not only for us, your children but also for other people.” I paused and
realized. Yes, he is right, I have dignity, perseverance, and integrity
instilled within me. These are the values I will pass to my children that no
one can ever take away from them. I was walking towards the field with my head
up high. I proudly told myself, I am not just a farmer; I am a hero.
Farmers
are the backbone of society; that is why we should recognize and give
importance to them.
